They are women who dared beyond challenges to pursue their dreams of becoming physicians. They pull back the curtains to share their stories on life, love and the pursuit of medicine.
From the continent of Africa armed with a dream and nothing but hope, these ladies however dared to believe. Fifteen female physicians come together under one canopy to share their stories about overcoming hurdles, barriers, failures & how they defied the odds to achieve their dreams of becoming a physician.
Chronicling their journey from Africa, through Europe and the Caribbean’s they bare it all in their book BEYOND CHALLENGES of how they dreamed, pushed, failed, cried & almost gave up. But for the flame of success that burnt brighter than their challenges, for these women was the certitude that failure wasn’t an option; what kept them going was the fact that how far they had to go was nothing compared to how far they had traveled in pursuit of the golden fleece.
The stress of immigration, the realization of cultural differences, the shock of racism, the pain of rejection & the struggles of integrating into a racially charged society left them sometimes wondering if it was all worth it. Read how they pushed through these challenges and achieved (to achieve) their goals & dreams.
