Dr. Raissa Ngebi Fobi

Dr. Raissa Ngebi Fobi, is a double board-certified Pediatrician and Neonatologist, and currently practices as an Attending Physician, as well as the Medical Director of the Neonatal ICU in Yakima Washington.

Dr. Fobi was born in Yaounde, Cameroon. She graduated from the University of Pretoria South Africa, with a Bachelor of Science focused in Human physiology and Genetics. She then went to the University of Ghana Medical school in West Africa, where she graduated with a Distinction in Anatomy. After graduating, she remained at the Korle-Bu teaching Hospital, where she worked for 2 years in a resource limited setting, caring for patients of all ages.

Dr. Fobi immigrated to the United States in 2011, completed her Pediatric residency at The Columbia University affiliation at Harlem Hospital, and subsequently, her Neonatal-Perinatal medicine Fellowship at the University of California Irvine.

During her time in Fellowship training, her passion for the respiratory care of the premature newborn, naturally lead her to doing ground-breaking research, in the use of human Umbilical cord stem cell secretome and its role in ameliorating Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia. Alongside her mentor, she worked towards changing what is currently known about the treatment of this disease that premature newborns are significantly affected by.

Living in the pacific northwest, Dr. Fobi loves being outdoors and is an avid runner. She also enjoys spending time with her family, her dog, and her spunky 13-month-old daughter Alia. Her approach to life is: Live simply, put love in action and be present in every moment.
