Dr. Anita Sangong is a healthcare professional with over 11 years of clinical experience. Born in Cameroon where she spent her childhood, Dr. Sangong immigrated to the United States in 1999. Pursuing a lifelong ambition for a career in medicine, she obtained an Associate’s degree in General Studies (2005) from Montgomery College, Takoma Park; and an Associate of Science in Nursing degree (2008) from Radians College, Washington DC. In 2016, she graduated with honors from Washington University of Health and Science, Belize with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

While awaiting residency placement in Internal Medicine or Dermatology, Dr. Sangong continues to serve her patients as a Registered nurse. She is an ardent philanthropist and is dedicated to giving back to her community. Ever cognizant of her roots too, Dr. Sangong hopes to someday provide free healthcare services to impoverished communities in Cameroon’s hinterlands where she grew up.

When she is not wearing the hat of the dedicated nurse and physician, Dr. Sangong is simply “mom” to beautiful 7-year-old  Lisa who is tied to her hip. Anita and Lisa love to spend time together reading, dancing, trying out new recipes, singing, participating in church activities, watching too many cartoons, throwing balls at the beach and everything silly.

Dr. Sangong is also co-author of the page-turner, Beyond Challenges, which chronicles the stories of 15 female immigrant physicians who beat the odds and soared through hardships that threatened their careers in medicine.
